How someone can wake up at dawn
With only a drive to argue
and not much else.
I can't stop wondering if she ever gets tired.
Because I know I could only wake up so many mornings
to throw on jeans and a sweatshirt
bundle up in a scarf with a cup of coffee
Toes still freezing
and ache in my heart
The door is wide open
but at this point it doesn't matter
'cause no one's going to leave.
How many mornings can she withstand being talked down to and trampled on
How many broken mirrors will it take for her to cry her way out of his life
How many drinks will take away her pain this time
How many mornings
